Jane Blaffer Owen Sanctuary (JBO Sanctuary) is the site of an extraordinary private art collection made public: a walkable open-air gallery of lush gardens, sculpture and architectural masterworks…all situated within the footprint of the 1800s utopian village of New Harmony, Indiana.

Sanctuary founder Jane Blaffer Owen contributed long vision and sixty years of stewardship to the spiritual and creative landscape of New Harmony. In honor of her father, she launched the Robert Lee Blaffer Foundation (RLBlaffer Foundation or the Foundation) there to cultivate opportunities for learning, teaching, celebration and contemplation in the extraordinary historic village.

RLBlaffer Foundation continues that mission, attracting creatives from around the world who are drawn to the area’s utopian legacy and spiritual sense of place. Professional architects, screenwriters, musicians, poets and potters are among those who merge into the landscape and community for creative residencies, intensive workshops and weekly music jams.
