I’m Dilan ,I live in No. 389 Harischandra Mawatha Anuradhapura Sri Lanka . I made this story translated to English by my one of my relatives as i dont know English .
We are a poor family and we looked after a coconut land in new town Anuradhapura .We had a small house made with clay and coconut leaves in the same land . The coconut trees grew very well and we were really busy with the coconut land owner . How ever in the evening we got few bucks and it’s really not enough even to have a mouthful of dinner .Most of the time me and my brothers and sisters (5 children) got the lunch and not my father and mother . I was really sad and depressed as the elder child in the family and i was just 14 years at that time .I was starting to think about another world than i see inside the coconut land .One day a Dimo batta came to the coconut land in search of coconut shells .There were plenty of them as some times half ripen coconut falls in some seasons . I made few bucks selling these shells and was thinking why they buy such garbage and what’s they are upto .I soon realize they are making some ornaments and having them sell online and offline .So why not me .. That’s the point i started this coconut shell painting job . How ever the owners of the coconut land chase us away because of this and we are living in a temple for few months and now we got a small land granted by the government . I made these paintings with my brothers and sisters and i know they are not to that standard how eve we are improving them .I wanted to do some thing extra ordinary than others as so many coconut shell products can be seen in the market .Also they are machine made for good quality as well.
